A classic Maine luncheon around the Old Port! Iconic local flavors from lobster and seafood chowder to Maine craft brews and more.

Visit Portland’s vibrant working waterfront to view lobster boats often unloading their catch, learn about the historic wharves and our relationship to the sea .

We’ll visit a mix of Old Port and waterfront district destinations for a progressive, iconic Maine lunch. Learn about the life of lobsters dwelling on the ocean floor while you dine on a fresh picked lobster roll. You’ll hear how the lobstermen and women haul in their catch while enjoying fresh New England or seafood chowder. Maine craft beer is a must try modern classic or we offer a locally crafted soda as an alternative. There’s one more surprise seafood tasting and we round off your experience with one of Maine’s official treat or another Maine-centric dessert.

Most “classic culinary heritage” Maine experience with a bit of modern flare.

Sensitivities and Dietary Preferences

This tour includes gluten, seafood and dairy. We can offer alternatives for seafood at MOST stops, but will not guarantee no cross contamination at seafood serving partners if you have an allergy vs. a preference.

We recommend our Old Port Culinary Walking Tour if you have sensitivities related to gluten (not celiac), seafood, nuts and vegetarians as our best option to potentially offer alternatives instead. Otherwise there’s plenty of food for thought.

Meeting Location

You’ll meet your guide at  Maine’s Pantry ten minutes before the tour officially begins so we may check you in and start on time.

Meeting Address:
Maine’s Pantry 250 Commercial Street, Portland, ME 04101

Q: Is this tour handicap accessible?
A: No. Portland’s dedication to historic preservation means that many buildings that house our food and beverage partners are small spaces, have narrow doorways, stairs and also we traverse cobblestones.

Q: How close is the starting point for this tour to where the cruise ships disembark?
A: Approx. half a mile/12 minutes and it’s a straight shot down Commercial St. Cruise ships disembark typically at the Ocean Gateway [14 Ocean Gateway] or near Casco Bay Lines [56 Commercial St.] and the meeting point for this tour is 250 Commercial st.

Q: Is this tour kid-friendly?
A: Absolutely! All ages are welcome. We don’t, however, encourage the use of strollers due to the size of many of our food and beverage partners spaces. If a stroller is absolutely necessary please use one of the smallest possible umbrella/collapsable size.

Q: May I bring my dog?
A: No. We love puppers, but legally our partners are not allowed to have pets enter their premises unless they’re official service dogs. IF you have an official service dog please note in your booking that they will be coming along.

Q: Where do I park?
A: We do NOT recommend using metered parking as the max time is 2 hrs. and this tour lasts longer than that. There are parking garages and lots all over the Old Port available. The least expensive rates can be found at the Spring Street Parking Garage or Holiday Inn by the Bay’s parking garage.
