This tour starts with a short, narrated walking tour in the historic Old Port where you will learn a little history, current events and food-centric news on our bustling working waterfront. We will pick up our individual picnics featuring fresh Maine lobster rolls, bottles of Maine’s Poland Spring water and some uniquely Maine chocolate treats, including chocolate covered blueberries and the Needham. (Cuz once you try em, you need em.) Then we will board the Elizabeth Grace, a 33-foot passenger launch armed with picnics in hand. (There is plenty of protection from the sun on board if you prefer.)
Once on board, your boat will proceed directly to a beautiful ocean front park in South Portland to enjoy your picnics. There will be time to stroll in the park to visit a lighthouse and the former ship yard with a replica of the Liberty Ships built there for WWII. There’s lots of history and walking or just relaxing and enjoying the views of the Portland skyline and beautiful Casco Bay islands.
After lunch, we will board the boat for a harbor cruise. Sit back and enjoy while learning about the interesting history of the harbor and the abundant seafood now being harvested in our cold waters. You may also enjoy any additional beverages you’ve brought on board. The tour of the harbor will include:
- Views of at several lighthouses
- Historic forts
- Abundant marine life
- And the islands of Casco Bay.
After this tour, the boat will return you to the dock in heart of the Old Port to enjoy your afternoon.
